It struck me the other day, whilst thinking about global warming, that the current rise in the worlds temperatue and its water levels is similar to that of the story of Noah.

Now, im no religious zealout, in fact im an atheist, but there are similarities to story in the world today. The Bible, whilst mostly a load of tripe, does have some stuff within its vast pages that ring true. In the story of Noah, the world was corrupt, full of evil and generally a pretty bad place to be. Out of the context of my own life, I think this is an assertion that could be widely recognised today, especially by the 90% (or so) of people who live on about $1 a day.

In the story of Noah the world flooded and wiped it all out - a clean slate if you like. Now the very same thing is happening today - its almost the worlds self defense mechanism - when populated by twats, flood yourself and start again. In a sense therefore, if we were really thinking about the world long term then we would encourage global warming, recognising it as a force for good - much like the body rids itself of a virus, the world is casting aside its own infection. No doubt Microsoft would build a bloody big barge and weather the storm, but the world can but try.

    Maybe this guy think so:
Dutchman Johan Huibers is building a working replica of Noah's Ark as a testament to his Christian faith.

The 47-year-old from Schagen, 45km (30 miles) north of Amsterdam, plans to set sail in September through the interior waters of the Netherlands.

Johan's Ark is a fifth of the size of Noah's and will carry farmyard animals.

Mr Huibers, who plans to open the vessel as a religious monument and zoo, hopes the project will renew interest in Christianity in the Netherlands.

Although Mr Huibers has tried to remain true to the ark described in the Bible, Johan's Ark is constructed with American cedar and Norwegian pine, rather than "gopher wood".

And again (old link this one)
The European Space Agency's chief scientist has said there should be a "Noah's Ark" on the Moon, in case life on Earth is wiped out by an asteroid or nuclear holocaust.

Europe's first lunar probe is due to orbit the Moon in November
Speaking exclusively to BBC News at the British Association Festival of Science, Dr Bernard Foing said the ark should be a repository for the DNA of every single species of plant and animal.
