WANTED! Contemplative Comments

→ by Danieru
I've been in a very contemplative mood recently, mulling over the books I've read this year, and the notes that go with them, and feeling as if this website has evolved to the stage where its character has been realised.

I keep aiming to start writing something soon, that is what all these books, notes and weblog meanderings are moving towards; a fiction not yet fully realised in my head. So I ask you:

Where is your head at right now?

Books or articles you're reading. Ideas and thoughts you are pondering. I'd love to know.

At the moment, amongst other things, I am reading the third novel in the His Dark Materials series (by Philip Pullman). If you've come across this trilogy you'll know that putting it down is as close to impossible as anything can get. So I'm off again, and burrow my head deep I shall into a reality rich with the imaginations of an infinity of worlds.

I await your comments...

UPDATE: The guy pictured above is Unzie, a travelling freak-show Albino from times gone by. He is officially my new hero - consider his contemplative gaze as inspiration.

Why is the moon almost exactly the same size as the sun in the sky? The moon could have been nearer or farther, or bigger or smaller. Same could be said about the sun.

the moon is actually an illusionary device installed by the kilngon empire to attract attention away from the other big secret of the solar system (that the sun is actually made of wool)

they could have made it any size they liked, klingon's don't play fair

Leveraging an exponential growth in scientific understanding to allow precise, micro, applications of fascism.

fascism almost rhymes with pacifism

find a rhyme for hitler, and receive a free ticket to the fascist carnival (a carnival i just made up that will probably never exist except in my disturbed and often confused little mind -
anonymous commenters confuse me too)

A humble Example:
An ecological bubble
is what humans trouble
by toil and sweat to save

differential equation
scientific invasion
nature must learn to behave

But the concerted application
lays the foundation
and at what point is nature our slave?
----
Much as Hitler
nevered bothered with the littler
people or items or things
we are all slaves
of the system we've made
it is for us that the bell someday will ring.

What's on my mind? Hmm... Well, I'm still sad cause of the death of an online friend (see my blog). I'm trying to finish SJ Gould's book I Have Landed (just 2-3 essays away!). I may start on his other books that I have when I finish this one (either Rock of Ages or Full House). And I'm watching some sappy, silly j-dramas from time to time (Densha Otoko currently, might start on Hana Yori Dango afterwards).
